Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme 2023
The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme is a Japanese government initiative that aims to promote mutual understanding and awareness between the people of Japan and other countries. The program offers participants the opportunity to work in Japan as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) or Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs).
The JET Program is a great opportunity for Filipinos who are interested in teaching English and working in Japan. Not only will participants gain valuable work experience, but they will also have the chance to live and work in one of the most culturally rich and technologically advanced countries in the world.
Key Duties and Responsibilities of a Teacher for Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme 2023
Monitoring Student Progress
One of the primary responsibilities of a teacher is to monitor the progress of his/her students. This involves assessing their performance regularly through quizzes, exams, assignments, and projects. Checking if they understand the lessons being taught in class and providing feedback are also part of monitoring student progress. If a student is struggling with the lessons, it is the teacher’s responsibility to find out why and help the student overcome whatever difficulty he/she is experiencing.
Creating Lesson Plans
Another key responsibility of teachers is creating lesson plans based on the approved curriculum. The lesson plan serves as a guide in delivering class lessons. It contains the daily schedule of activities, topics to be discussed, learning objectives, methods of instruction, and assessment methods. A well-made lesson plan enables teachers to conduct lessons smoothly and efficiently. It also allows them to track their student’s progress as well as their performance as educators.
Encouraging Student Participation
It is also important for teachers to encourage student participation during classes. Student participation can take many forms such as answering questions, sharing insights or reactions, working on group activities, or presenting projects. When students are actively involved in class, they are more likely to understand and retain the lessons being taught. Moreover, student participation can also make classes more interesting and enjoyable for both teachers and students alike.
Maintaining Classroom Discipline
Maintaining classroom discipline is another essential responsibility of teachers. They need to ensure that their students behave properly inside the classroom and follow the rules set by the school or institution where they are teaching. Although maintaining discipline can be challenging at times, teachers need to be firm yet fair in enforcing rules to keep their classrooms orderly and conducive to learning.
